Hibernian have banned their Block Seven ultras group from the club’s next three fixtures following disorder in the away end at Tannadice after Saturday’s Scottish Premiership defeat to Dundee United. The sanction covers home games against Falkirk and Celtic and the trip to St Mirren.
Pictures emerged of some visiting fans clashing with police and stewards at the end of Hibs’ 1-0 loss, which came in Marink Reedijk’s first match as head coach. Police Scotland arrested two men following the incident.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Hibs said initial investigations had led them to bar Block Seven from the next three matches. The club confirmed it had discussed the sanction with the Scottish Professional Football League.
“Following initial investigations, Hibernian Football Club can confirm that the Block Seven supporter group has been banned from our next three fixtures - against Falkirk and Celtic at Easter Road and away to St Mirren,” the club said.
Hibs added that the three-match ban follows a one-match suspension handed to the group earlier this season. The club said its investigation into the Tannadice events remains ongoing and that further action, either against individuals or collectively, could follow.
The club stressed that supporter safety was its priority and warned that behaviour which puts others at risk would not be tolerated.
“No-one should feel unsafe or uncomfortable when supporting Hibernian and behaviour that puts others at risk is unacceptable,” Hibs said.
The statement also thanked the wider support and pledged to continue addressing unacceptable conduct so it does not undermine the matchday experience for other fans.
The announcement from the Easter Road club came on the same day Police Scotland revealed that 10 more people had been charged in connection with disorder following Hibs’ away match against St Johnstone last month.
Hibs had said on Monday that they would take “appropriate action as necessary” once they had established the full circumstances of the Tannadice disorder.
Block Seven will now be absent as Hibs host Falkirk and Celtic at Easter Road, before travelling to Paisley to face St Mirren.
