Rangers have completed the signing of Minsu Kim from Girona in a deal worth £8.5m, adding further firepower to Derek McInnes’s squad as the September transfer deadline approaches.
The 20-year-old South Korean international has committed to an initial four-year deal at Ibrox, with the club holding an option to extend by a further 12 months.
Kim becomes Rangers’ 12th summer signing, ahead of striker Kevin Kelsy expected to follow before the transfer window closes next week, after the Glasgow side agreed a £9.2m deal with Portland Timbers for the Venezuelan striker.
Although not included in Rangers’ Conference League squad for tonight’s play-off second leg against Jablonec, Kim could make his domestic debut in Sunday’s trip to Aberdeen.
From La Liga breakthrough to Ibrox
Kim joined Girona in 2022 and, after impressing with the B team, made his La Liga debut in October 2024 before featuring in the Champions League the following month. Last season, he went on loan to FC Andorra in Spain’s second tier, where he scored six goals and provided four assists.
After the announcement, Kim said: “I’m so happy to sign for Rangers. I know it’s a big club with great, great fans.

“I have a lot of excitement and I believe I have the mentality of a winner. I want to face whatever comes next head-on and I’m going to give the club what it deserves.”

The signing of Minsu takes Rangers’ transfer spending to around £80 million over the past 12 months, as they look to wrestle the Scottish Premiership title away from Celtic Park.
