Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin did not travel with the Rangers squad for Thursday’s Conference League play-off second leg in the Czech Republic against Jablonec, as the Ibrox club explores a potential exit for the midfielder.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, McInnes addressed the growing speculation around Raskin’s future.
“We believe that interest has stepped up over the last couple of days,” he said. “Something may or may not happen.”
The Rangers boss added that the club would welcome Raskin’s continued presence if no deal materialises before the deadline, but acknowledged the possibility of a transfer fee could benefit both parties.
“If Nico stays beyond the window then it would be great to work with him, if he doesn’t then we wish him well,” McInnes said. “I think everything moves on, Nico has served the club well. There is maybe an opportunity for him and the club to capitalise on that with a transfer fee.”
He cautioned against reading too much into the situation until a deal is confirmed. “I don’t want to say too much about Nico at the minute until if and when something happens. It is still an IF rather than a certainty.”
While Raskin’s future remains uncertain, Rangers are understood to be advancing on two significant incoming deals. Reports indicate the club is set to sign Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy and Girona winger Kim Min-su in a combined €21 million move, with Kim already in the UK to complete his medical. If those deals are completed, it will take the Ibrox side’s spending over the past 12 months to around £80 million.
